Public Safety is such an important issue to all of us. There are so many external threats in our society which seem to be growing daily. I am keenly aware of these, coming from a long line of First Responders including my late father and Uncle Bobby, and now my brothers and nephews who all serve their communities as police officers.
We experience increasing illicit drug use in our schools and on our streets, homelessness and mental illness, crimes such as rape, theft, and senseless attacks on our persons and our property.
It is so important that our children, seniors, and all our residents are provided safe environments where we can live free from fear of such threats.
I believe we must have strong and effective First Responders in our neighborhoods. In particular, we must have capable and well-trained Police and Fire Departments. I propose and support improved training and reasonable policy reforms along with adequate budgets to ensure our communities are safe and secure.
We also need to ensure our schools provide a safe and threat-free learning environment for all students and teachers.
I support the safeguarding of school and teacher budgets and the implementation of better protocols to protect the wellbeing of our children including:
- Suicide prevention
- Drug addiction prevention
- Safeguards against violence
- Parental choice in regard to sex-education (please reject Referendum 90, which forces a highly controversial sex-ed program on all public school students in K-12. Vote NO on R-90 in November!)
My own son became addicted to drugs when he was in junior high and I didn’t find out until it was too late because it is illegal for teachers and school staff to notify parents of their children’s health information in a shocking number of situations. This must be changed.
If elected as your State Representative, I propose that we create legislation making it mandatory to obtain parental approval for health care treatment of minor children and requiring parental notification regarding health-related issues or concerns affecting minor children. If elected, I intend to draft bills to do so. Parent’s rights to guide the health care of their minor children, must be respected and safeguarded.

The incumbent, Amy Walen, stands against parents' rights as demonstrated by her recent votes FOR preventing disclosure to parents of a child's personal health information. See Amy's voting record by clicking here.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of Washington State’s economy
I intend to help our small businesses recover from the adverse effects of COVID – 19 and to remain solvent thereafter by lowering state and local business taxes.
When I opened my first business in 1998, I felt like I was attacked by a giant octopus that began to suck money out of my pocket before I made a single dollar. This was a rude awakening as a single parent in Kirkland who was trying to provide for my young son. When I opened my remodel company in 2003 I knew I would have to pay the state Business and Occupation tax. However, I was horrified to learn that I would also have to pay a B&O tax to every surrounding city and town, even if I only did one job in that municipality. Multiple taxation must end!
I believe we must lower all taxes for businesses in Washington State and we must never introduce a State Income Tax on our citizens.
Small businesses provide over half the jobs in the private-sector workforce in Washington State. The small “mom and pop” businesses not only provide jobs for us and our teenaged children but create part of the social fabric that adds color to our everyday life in the towns and cities where we live.
In addition, many businesses and corporations are attracted to Washington State because there is no State Income Tax for employees.
If elected as your State Representative, I promise to draft bipartisan bills to lower taxes in Washington State and:
- Support NO new business taxes
- Support NO State Income Tax on individuals

The incumbent, Amy Walen, has voted YES on 7 out of 7 key tax increases in 2019/2020 hurting businesses, families and jobs! This is completely contrary to Covid-19 economic recovery. See Amy's voting record by clicking here.

Title Only/"Ghost Bills"
Rights, Responsibilities, and Freedoms
The Constitution of the United States of America and the Washington State Constitution are two of the most important documents to the quality of our lives. When our founding fathers drafted the United States Constitution I wonder if they knew it would last for over 200 years?
A movement in our country is chipping away at our rights, responsibilities, and freedoms, pushing our country toward socialism. I have talked with new American citizens. I have heard their stories... the personal stories of immigrants from Iran, Pakistan, Ukraine, China, and Mexico who left oppressive conditions to make a better life here. They value the liberty, safety, and opportunity for prosperity offered by the United States of America. To a person, each one begs that we halt the progression toward socialism before it is too late. They know well what we all stand to lose.
If elected, as your State Representative of the 48th Legislative District Position 2, I pledge to fight all attempts to socialize our country and I will uphold the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the State of Washington as promised, to protect all the freedoms, rights, and responsibilities of all our citizens.
